Equinox Rox! 1,000' Zipline

Launches from the top of our Climbing Tower

1000-foot Zipline Whitehorse, Yukon     Our Zipline (what is a zipline?) is located at the Takhini Hot Springs near Whitehorse, providing adventure-seeking travellers with exhilarating experiences and stunning views of the Whitehorse Valley year round. We cater to individuals, families, groups and special occasions. All equipment, as well as thoughtful instruction and lots of encouragement is provided.

For those looking for a day adventure into the Yukon backcountry, our friendly and well trained guides can provide you with a unique perspective of the area's spectacular cliffs and canyons.

Winter ziplining in the Yukon     The 'Zipline' is a steel cable stretching from the top deck of the tower, across the pond and landing on the far side. Participants slide down the 1,000' cable on a pulley, skimming across the hot springs pond and reaching speeds of 50-60kph. The safety systems are similar to the climbing wall ~ safety lines, harness and helmet.

How a zipline works: A zipline is an angled cable which people use to slide down on a pulley. Participants start with a safety briefing and gear up with harness, helmet and pulley. They then climb or are pulled up the climbing tower to a 14' x 14' deck with an awesome view of the Takhini and Ibex valleys.

From this deck a cable stretches 250m and drops 20m from the top of the climbing tower, through trees, across the pond and lands on the far shore. Once attached to the cable and systems are checked zippers are clear to walk or run off the deck and slide down the zipline cable attaining speeds of 50-70 km/h. Zippers slow down at the end by a 'gravity break' (cable rises at end). Wet or dry landings are both possible.
