ZOOM Program

Adventure Rox Day Camps have been providing children & youth with top-notch instruction in adventure based programs since 2004. Our goal is to expose campers to a variety of activities in a safe and structured environment and to encourage them to try new things and expand their skill base. Campers receive instruction in various activities which are designed to allow individuals to learn at their own rate while being part of a team environment.

ZOOM is a 2 day program for children who are either too busy to enjoy a full week in our Adventure Rox Camp Programs or who just want to end their week with a boom!

Activities Include:

Rock climbing with Adventure Rox Day Camps! (click to enlarge it) Rock Climbing Lessons: Campers will use our 30’ rock climbing wall learning basic climbing techniques, proper equipment use, knot tying, and belay skills. Campers will enjoy a session of rock climbing lessons each day they are with us (with the exception of ZOOM’n’Ride weeks).

Zip Line: A big hit at the Equinox Outdoor Climbing Wall is a 1000 foot 'zip line' which takes a rider from a platform at the top of the wall, to a landing area on the other side of the pond. During the rock climbing lessons, campers will set personal goals and may want to challenge themselves further by zooming down the zip line! It's a fun, exhilarating and safe ride that campers won't want to miss.

Outdoor Adventure: Campers will spend an afternoon learning about outdoor living and survival skills. They will enjoy learning how to build a safe campfire and then put it to good use by cooking up some delicious treats! They will head into the forest for activities such as orienteering, shelter building, hiking and forest games.

Kayaking: Campers will take part in a half day kayaking lesson designed to be a fun introduction for novices and a chance for more experienced paddlers to work on their skills. Campers will learn to paddle in a straight line (not as easy as it sounds), reverse, turn round, stop and get out in a hurry. They will enjoy playing some fun kayaking games.

Specialty Weeks
There are a few weeks during the summer that include a special component unique to that week.

  • Horseback Riding: During the weeks of July 7 & 8 and July 28 & 29 we will be offering ZOOM’n’Ride for beginner, intermediate and advanced riders. These weeks will include the regular Friday activities, but Thursday’s program will be replaced by a full day horseback riding lesson provided by Spirited Adventures Ltd. Jackie Dickson, owner / instructor, is a licensed Equine Canada Coach with a certificate in Equine Studies from the Saskatchewan Institute of Science and Technology as well as a masters degree specializing in leadership. Jackie offers a highly structured program that provides excellent training for those just learning to ride, while teaching the finer points of equitation and horsemanship to the experienced rider.

All students learn how to behave and stay safe around horses. In 2010 Jackie started helping campers work towards recognized certifications with the Canadian Equestrian Federation (CEF). We will continue to do this in 2011. Beginner riders will work towards their Little Wrangler Level 1 or 2 while more experienced riders will aim for their CEF Level 1 award.

The price for ZOOM’n’Ride weeks is $160.

We make sure that each session is slightly different to ensure variety for campers returning for more than one week. We guarantee that every week will be a safe, busy and a fun filled experience with the opportunity for campers to learn new skills in a variety of outdoor adventure programs.

Statutory Holidays:

Canada Day (Friday, July 1st) and Discovery Day (Monday, August 15th) fall during sessions 2 & 9. We will run our programs as usual during these two weeks so that all campers are able to enjoy the complete Adventure Rox Camp experience.

Proper safety equipment for all of our programs is used and regularly inspected (i.e. certified rock climbing gear and helmets, PFDs, water rescue equipment, etc.).
